Celebrations for Chinese New Year took place in London on February 6th across three sites from Shaftsbury Avenue to Trafalgar Square. Dick Tee took control of the production and Ethix were asked to provide sound, lighting and power across the three sites. Ethix used microwave technology to transfer the whole ceremony into Leicester Square and Shaftsbury Avenue so the whole event could be watched around the various sites An estimated 250 000 people enjoyed a mixture of Chinese culture throughout the day. There was a mobile stage provided by Star events group, which held the main celebrations, and Ethix provided the sound across the whole site and for the 20,000 people in attendance in Trafalgar Square.






To supply sound lighting and power for 61 events across the UK, touring with 24 crew and major UK artists with the Olympic torch.

In 2012 the Olympic games came to London and Ethix were asked to supply a technical production package of sound lighting and power for the Olympic torch relay, which ran the length, and breadth of the United Kingdom. Working with one of our long term partners Star events the tour started on 19th May and toured 70 cities across the UK with bands including Labyrinth, Rizzle kicks, Wretch 32 and Katy B. The event was a back-to-back tour visiting a major city or town everyday and an evening celebration where the Olympic torch was brought in and the cauldron lit before departing for the next venue.

Over 1.5 million people visited the events with some venues have up to 80 000 people attending to see the once in a lifetime experience.  24 crew, 3 arctic’s, 2 tour buses and a lasting legacy, which we were all extremely proud to be part of.

Client: Boishakhi Mela Trust

Location: East London

The Boishaki Mela in East London attracts over 50 000 visitors in one day and Ethix management supply the technical infrastructure over the whole site with a main stage and over 50 caterers. The whole infrastructure has to be loaded in on the day before then be operational for the next day and then de-rigged straight after the event. Ethix have be working with Tower Hamlets and the Mela trust on this event for the past 10 years and every year improving the logistics and infrastructure to create a bigger and better event, year in year out. The site at Victoria park was a new site as the existing site at Allen Gardens became too small for the event to be successfully implemented

Location: Onne Nigeria

Nigerian logistics specialist Orlean invest celebrated their 25th Anniversary in October and Ethix teamed up with Flux events to provide a city-stopping event for the client. A celebration of the past 25 years culminating in a concert for the 10 000 attendees of both staff and invited guests including Nigerian president Good luck Jonathon.

The show was produced by John Farquhar Smith and Wrapt films created a documentary of the 25 year history that was projected on a 50m x 16m screen and a 25m VerTec stage supplied by Star events. Paul Jones from Ethix was the technical director and was responsible for all the sound lighting and Video elements of the project. This involved 22 of 40ft containers being shipped and a further 16 tonnes of airfreight to ensure the delivery of the project on time.

The show was seen by 10 000 and involved an award ceremony for the employees and then a concert featuring Ciara, Tuface and headlining Akon.

Location: Hyde Park, London

Date:  20 October

Ethix Management provided sound, lighting and power for the TUC rally in Hyde Park, which saw over 150 000 people march into the park for a meeting on March 26 against the government cuts. Guest speaker included David Milliband and a host of senior union representatives. Ethix installed 36 boxes of EV XLC, 16 of which were on delay towers to give maximum coverage over the whole site and a system to enable the event to be broadcast. In addition the site power was supplied from 8 generators placed around the site to provide power for all the event support and logistics.

Ethix have been working with and supplying Associated press for the last ten years and for The canonisation AP asked us to supply a small structure in which 3 live positions and two television studios could be set up. In addition the structure had to be 6 floors up on Saint Augustine’s College opposite the basilica for the live shot.

We designed and arranged a structure to be delivered lifted and constructed on the roof of the college using a crane lift and then decking out the floor and then using lightweight ballast filling with water to give the structure the weight needed for the structural calculations.
