Olympic Torch Relay

In 2012 the Olympic games came to London and Ethix were asked to supply a technical production package of sound, lighting and power for the Olympic torch relay, which ran the length, and breadth of the United Kingdom. Working with one of our long term partners Star events the tour started on 19th May and toured 70 cities across the UK with bands including Labyrinth, Rizzle kicks, Wretch 32 and Katy B. The event was a back-to-back tour visiting a major city or town everyday and an evening celebration where the Olympic torch was brought in and the cauldron lit before departing for the next venue.

Over 1.5 million people visited the events with some venues have up to 80 000 people attending to see the once in a lifetime experience. 24 crew, 3 arctic’s, 2 tour buses and a lasting legacy, which we were all extremely proud to be part of.
